Treat yo self

Treat yo self will be a phrase that any parks and recs fan will know extremely well. I decided to channel my inner Donna and Tom and treat myself this week to take my mind off all the exam stress I’ve been facing.
Over the weekend I was binge watching keeping up with the Kardashians and couldn’t help but be jealous of Khloe’s gorgeous long and immaculate nails, and I knew I wanted to try them in my treat yo self week. I absolutely love my nails and I always have them painted but have never been to a proper salon and had gels or extensions, so first thing Monday morning I called my local salon and booked an appointment to have tips added and a gel colour over the top.

My salon experience started with lots of decisions about what length I wanted them and which colour should I go for; to be honest I felt even more stressed after all of this and was regretting doing it when I was trying to relax. An hour and a half later I walked out of the salon and felt like a completely different person, I felt like I was floating on a cloud of glamor, and felt like one of those women you see on tv that seem to have their lives in order (which was a nice change).
So here I am writing this with stupidly long nails that are so impractical for everyday life and that cost a ridiculous amount of money… but I absolutely love them! Don’t get me wrong they make even the most simple of tasks tricky (I’ve resorted to calling instead of texting because it’s such a hassle) but they make me feel a million dollars and that really is the best confidence boost and I really don’t care what others think about them.
It’s crazy how the smallest of things can make you feel so good about yourself but it’s reminded me that I need to treat myself to the small things more often. Whether that be getting my nails done or trying out a new hairstyle; anything will give me a little confidence boost.

The point of this post is that in a time of social media and seeing ‘perfection’ everywhere it’s so easy to get down about yourself and feel inferior to others and you should do something that will make you happy and that will give you a little boost.
